111 years ago today, Mark Twain (Sam Clemons) died in his home in Redding Connecticut. He was one of the few writers who was able to successfully balance humor and serious writing. His daughter, Clara, said to Hal Holbrook "that my father was a deeply serious man." Like his pen name and his real name, he was a man carrying a dual personality. Or perhaps, more accurately, he was a person who contained multitudes. Here is the story of that sad day on April 21, 1910.
AREA 52 is a cartoon series created by Bot Roda and Martin Baker. The series will continue this year. Bot and I are currently working on our second children's book, The Dancing Dachshund. When it comes to hair, I didn't win the DNA lottery. I have the Jeff Daniels hair from Dumb and Dumber. What I really want is the Patrick Dempsey. I don't think that's going to happen. It's okay.
